Christmas From My Couch — THE HOLIDATE

Christmas from my Couch is back for the 2020 holiday season! This year, I am going beyond Netflix. No movies are off limits! If I watch it, I review it! Each movie will receive a flake rating out of five snowflakes.

SPOILER ALERT: I do not hold back any details of the plot, so if you don’t want the ending ruined for yourself, wait to read this until after you have watched the movie.

It is important to note that this is for FUN. I do not have malicious intentions with posting my opinions of these movies. I am NOT an expert on film, only an expert at sitting on my couch in front of my TV!

Let’s do this!

These reviews were inspired by Alex Stewart of Sassy Confetti. She is reviewing Hallmark Christmas movies on her Instagram, and they are absolute gold!

THE TRAILER

The Plot (and my Unwarranted two cents)

Let’s start with the breakdown…

  • Girl (Sloane) is tired of being the only member of her family who is single.
  • Sloane meets guy (Jackson) at the mall and they become friends.
  • Sloane and Jackson decide to become platonic “holidates” and attend all holiday gatherings with each other for a year.
  • They end up falling in love.
I was really expecting this movie to be like the 2020 version of Holiday in the Wild (review here!) where it is a rom com turned Christmas movie without any warning. All things considered, I think Netflix crushed it with this one. I thought it was cute, and I would totally watch it during the year!

MY FOLLOW-UP QUESTIONS

I think the main issue here is just the entire plot at hand. I am not going to get into it because it’s not worth the time but yeah I just don’t know. Ha!

MY FINAL REVIEW

I am giving this five flakes because it was cute, it was different, and they nailed going against the grain! If you have seen this movie, let me know what you think!
