Kim Kardashian’s Frosted Animal Cookie Cookies Recipe

If you follow my Instagram account (@alliebahcall), you probably saw that I was obsessing over the cookies that Kim Kardashian posted the other day. To bring yourself up to speed on this, you can visit this article for a summary that is brief and accurate enough. For the recipe I created to recreate these frosted animal cookie cookies, keep reading!

If you give these cookies a try, tag me in your posts! Okay, tag the Kardashians, too.

Here are some screenshots of the cookies the kardashians posted...

As you can see, the cookies spread a lot in the oven, so I knew I needed to find a recipe that would do the same.

Here's the recipe I used for inspiration...

As the Instagram stories state, their chef used the same dough he uses for their chocolate chip cookie dough. He used cotton candy chips instead of chocolate chips. That was a pretty hard no for me. Even if said cotton candy chips were easily accessible, I wouldn’t have added them.

I found this recipe from The Insider’s Guide on Pinterest then made some slight changes. It looked close enough to the type of cookie I was aiming to bake.

FROSTED ANIMAL COOKIE COOKIES RECIPE

For the most part, the recipe was a solid baseline. This is what actually wound up in my mixing bowl…

Ingredients

  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. of salt
  • 1 stick butter, softened
  • 3/4 c. granulated sugar
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 3.4-ounce instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 c. frosted animal cookies chopped (this is just a suggestion… MEASURE WITH YOUR HEART!)
  • Nonpareils sprinkles (MEASURE WITH YOUR HEART… maybe 2 tbsp. – 1/4 c. to mix into the cookies and another 2 tbsp. to sprinkle on top after they come out of the oven?)
  • Extra frosted animal cookies to top cookies after baking

BAKING INSTRUCTIONS

Instructions

  1. Line a small baking sheet with parchment paper. You will use this to chill the dough after mixing.
  2. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together dry ingredients (flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt).
  3. In a large mixing bowl or stand mixer, blend butter and sugars together until well combined.
  4. Add in vanilla and eggs to butter/sugar mix until just combined so you don’t over-beat the eggs.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in the large/stand mixing bowl then pour in the pudding mix.
  6. Fold in the chopped animal crackers and nonpareils sprinkles.
  7. With a scooper comparable to the size of an ice cream scooper, scoop the dough and roll it in the palms of your hands.
  8. Refrigerate dough for at least 30 minutes before baking. You can even let it sit overnight.
  9. Preheat oven to 350ยบ and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  10. Place cookies on sheet spaced ~3 inches apart. Picture on left kind of shows how much they’ll spread.
  11. Bake cookies for 12-15 minutes. I would set the timer for 8-10 minutes and then periodically check after that.
  12. Once you take the cookies out of the oven, let them sit for 2-3 minutes before pressing frosted animal cookies.
  13. The frosting will melt a little on the frosted animal cookies. Once that happens, sprinkle more nonpareils on top!
  14. Let cool completely before eating. I know it’s easier said than done, but I really think these cookies taste better when they’re cooled off.
Recipe makes 16 cookies.
NOTE: This was a test batch where some of the cookies do not have chopped animal crackers mixed in the dough.
