Best Food Finds in NYC (March 2023)

Looking for the best food in New York City?

I tried a bunch of amazing restaurants in New York City when I visited there in March, and sharing their greatness was a must! Check out where I ate, and let me know where I should go on my next trip (whenever that may be)!

Apologies in advance that the majority of these restaurants are in Midtown, but that is where I spent most of my trip! What can you do? Ha

I went back to a few of the places I visited the last time I was in NYC, but there are a ton of new great spots to check out!

ARTICHOKE BASILLE'S PIZZA

Artichoke Pizza

Artichoke Basille’s Pizza is as amazing as it looks. It’s not your average New York slice of New York pizza, but it’s a pizza slice you can only find in New York City.

BAKED BY MELISSA

Baked By Melissa Cupcakes

What’s not to love about the bite-sized cupcakes from Baked By Melissa. Due to COVID, they pivoted to pre-selected flavors in their six-packs. It was fun to try a few flavors that I probably would not have selected if I were choosing my own Baked By Melissa cupcakes.

BROOKLYN DINER

Coffee (because I didn't get a picture of my omelette!)

No food pictures? I must’ve been starving when I was at Brooklyn Diner because I did not take a picture of my omelette! If you are looking for good food and friendly employees, Brooklyn Diner is the place to go!

CARLO'S BAKERY

Is Carlo’s Bakery authentic to New York City? No.

Are the cannolis amazing? Yes!

I actually have been to the flagship location in Hoboken, and I was excited to check out the location near Times Square. It was so worth it!

CHIP CITY COOKIES

Calling all cookie lovers! This may be the best cookie in New York City. I said it.

Chip City Cookies was phenomenal! Next time I am in New York City, I am definitely going to try more of those cookies. I loved them so much!

ESS-A-BAGEL

Whether or not Ess-a-Bagel is a social media trap, it is absolutely worth the hype it receives! The bagel sandwiches are amazing. Don’t be discouraged by the long line. It moves quickly!

JASPER'S TAPHOUSE & KITCHEN

Jasper’s Taphouse & Kitchen was a great place to watch March Madness! The menu is straight-up good bar food, and the servers were awesome!

KATZ'S DELI

When in New York, Katz’s Deli is a must. It may be. the oldest deli in NYC, but eating deli food never gets old! I love a good Reuben sandwich, and the Reuben at Katz’s was top tier.

LADURÉE

If you want to feel like you’re in Europe while you’re actually in SoHo, make a reservation at Ladurée! It is the perfect place to break up a day of shopping.

LEVAIN BAKERY

It’s not a trip to New York City without a stop at Levain Bakery. My personal favorite is the Two Chip cookie. Yes, the Chocolate Chip Walnut and Double Chocolate Chip cookies are great, but I just love a classic chocolate chip cookie… Levain style!

OSTERIA AL DOGE

I’m not sure why Osteria Al Doge was not more crowded when I was there. It’s right by Times Square, and it was the perfect spot for a post-Broadway meal. We walked in and got a table right away. I’m a sucker for seafood pasta, so this meal was a total win.

THE PRESS CLUB GRILL

I was staying at the Martinique New York on Broadway, so I had food and beverage credits to spend at The Press Club Grill in the hotel. Pictured here is the Bananas Foster Crème Brulèe, and it was a FANTASTIC dessert. I wish I tried more of the menu items, but I did not. have enough time during my trip!

RAY'S PIZZA

If you’re looking for a basic, no frills New York slice of pizza, Ray’s Pizza has you covered. There are locations all over the city, so you have plenty of opportunies to get to Ray’s.

SARABETH'S

I wish I could start every day at Sarabeth’s. It’s so chic and refreshing. It’s a total “ladies who lunch” spot, and I love that so much! The omlette was really good, and I’m sure the rest of the breakfast menu is great as well.

VAN LEEUWEN ICE CREAM

I was plesantly surprised by Van Leeuwen Ice Cream. The brand seems really popular for people who prefer vegan ice cream, so I was intrigued. I can’t remember which non-vegan ice cream flavor I chose, but I remember really liking it!

ZAYTINYA

Jose Andres does not miss! Zaytinya is open in the Ritz-Carlton New York (NoMad), and everything we ordered was unbelievable! My advice to you would be to go with a group and order as much as you possibly can so you can try everything.
